1. What is ring network redundancy?

2. Ethernet ring network category
At present, the common Ethernet ring network redundancy is mainly divided into the following types: ring network based on spanning tree STP/RSTP/MSTP protocol, ring network based on private ring network protocol, ring network based on ERPS (G.8032) general ring network protocol Ring.

At present, in the Ethernet of the Layer 2 network, the requirements for fault self-healing time are getting higher and higher. The STP/RSTP/MSTP spanning tree protocol cannot meet the convergence performance requirements of the link, and the manufacturer's private ring network protocol has a single networking form, and cannot be compatible with other manufacturers' equipment. The ERPS protocol absorbs the advantages of ring network protection technologies such as STP, optimizes the detection mechanism, and has fast convergence speed. At the same time, it has good compatibility and is the mainstream choice for switch equipment manufacturers in the market.

3. ERPS ring network protocol
ERPS (Ethernet Ring Protection Switching, Ethernet Ring Protection Switching Protocol), also known as G.8032, is a protocol developed by ITU specifically for link-layer Ethernet ring protection. It is used for link backup and improving network performance. reliability. It can prevent the broadcast storm caused by the data loop when the Ethernet ring network is complete, and can quickly restore the communication between each node on the ring network when a link on the Ethernet ring is disconnected.
4. ERPS function application
4.1. Common networking topologies
Multiple switches form a ring network, and one of them is set as the RPL Owner node. When the link is normal, the RPL port is automatically blocked.

4.2. Link failure recovery
When it is detected that the ring network link is disconnected, the Owner node releases the RPL port, and realizes the link data switching within 12ms, and the video and data are not stuck.
